RTC Connect SMS Alert Program

Program Description

RTC Connect, operated by RTC Manufacturing, offers an SMS alert notification service for authorized users of our school zone flasher management platform. This program sends text message alerts to notify users of critical device status changes, including:

  • Power failures (AC power loss, battery low voltage)
  • Flasher malfunctions
  • Device tilt or knockdown alerts
  • Maintenance notifications
  • System status updates

These alerts help municipalities and school districts maintain safe school zones by providing real-time notifications when flasher systems require attention.

How to Opt-In

To receive SMS alerts from RTC Connect, users must complete the following opt-in process:

  1. Account Authentication: Log in to your RTC Connect account at app.rtc-connect.com using your secure credentials.
  2. Navigate to Settings: Go to Account Settings and select the Notifications section.
  3. Add Phone Number: Enter your mobile phone number in the SMS notifications section.
  4. Verify Phone Number: You will receive a verification code via SMS. Enter this code to confirm ownership of the phone number.
  5. Enable SMS Notifications:Toggle the SMS notifications switch to "ON" to opt-in.
  6. Review Consent: Before enabling, you will see the following disclosure:
    "By enabling SMS notifications, you agree to receive text message alerts from RTC Connect about device status, maintenance reminders, and system alerts. Message frequency varies based on your alert settings (typically 1-10 messages/month). Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt-out at any time."
  7. Configure Preferences: Optionally customize which alert types you want to receive and set your preferred notification schedule.

Note: You must have an active RTC Connect account with a verified phone number to receive SMS alerts. SMS notifications are only available to authorized users within participating organizations.

Message Frequency

Message frequency varies based on your notification settings and device activity. Typical usage:

  • Average: 1-10 messages per month
  • Maximum: Frequency depends on alert conditions and your configured preferences
  • Timing: Messages are sent based on your configured notification schedule

You can reduce message frequency by adjusting your alert preferences in your account settings, including which alert types to receive and during which hours/days.

Message and Data Rates

Message and data rates may apply. Standard messaging rates from your mobile carrier apply to all SMS messages sent and received. Check with your mobile carrier for details about your messaging plan.

How to Opt-Out

You can stop receiving SMS messages at any time using either of these methods:

  • Reply STOP: Text STOP to any message you receive from RTC Connect. You will receive a confirmation message and will no longer receive SMS alerts.
  • Account Settings:Log in to your RTC Connect account, go to Account Settings, navigate to Notifications, and toggle SMS notifications to "OFF".

After opting out, you will receive a one-time confirmation message. You can opt back in at any time by following the opt-in process above.

Examples of messages you may receive:

  • RTC Connect: Guardian alert at Lincoln Elementary School Zone - 07:45 UTC. Reply STOP to opt out.
  • RTC Connect: AC Power failure at Main St School Zone. Battery backup active. Reply STOP to unsubscribe.
  • RTC Connect: Flasher malfunction at Washington Middle School - technician attention required. Reply STOP to end.

Supported Carriers

RTC Connect SMS alerts are supported on all major U.S. carriers, including but not limited to:

AT&T, Verizon Wireless, T-Mobile, Sprint, U.S. Cellular, Cricket, MetroPCS, Boost Mobile, Virgin Mobile, and other regional carriers. Carriers are not responsible for delayed or undelivered messages.

Privacy

Your phone number and SMS preferences are protected in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Key points:

  • We do not sell or share your phone number with third parties for marketing purposes.
  • Your phone number is used solely for delivering RTC Connect service notifications.
  • We do not send marketing or promotional messages via SMS.
  • Message content may be accessible to mobile carriers as part of standard message delivery.

Terms of Service

Use of RTC Connect SMS alerts is subject to our full Terms of Service. By opting in to SMS notifications, you agree to these terms.
